Sheffield children of colour have the most polluted air at school

Looking at public data on primary schools in Sheffield it appears clear that there is a strong correlation between schools with more children of colour and those with most polluted air.

These charts are based on research started by air campaigner Graham Turnbull. They use the estimated pollution by postcode from AddressPollution.org and the school ethnicity figures for 2023.

I also looked at any link between air pollution and free school meals. There does appear to be a trend there, with schools with more free school meals having somewhat higher likelihood of more air pollution. But it is much less strong a trend than for ethnicity.
